ABOUT A BOY |
|
THE
BEST HUGH GRANT I'VE SEEN
I
really enjoyed this movie, it was very original and inteligent; I
thought this was going to be another "Bridget Jones' Diary." Don't
get me wrong, that movie is among my favorites but this one was a
different twist.
I
don't think anyone could tell me Hugh Grant is not HOT! He also did
a really good job and proved to be a good actor with an interesting
charisma.
The only thing I did not like about this movie is that at times I
could not understand the english accent of the actors; perhaps you'd
have better luck but I guarantee you you will spend a lot of
concentration time trying to understand what they are saying.
What made this movie so special was its originality in the eyes of
the American culture; in this film you get a good taste of English
life, at least I think this is it because I found some of the parts
in the movie friggin weirdddd!!

AMERICAN PIE 2 |
|
MORE
REAL, BETTER THAN 1
Might be because
I am not into the 'ole high school party scene anymore but the first
American Pie wasn't among my favorite movies, some scenes disgusted me
more than making me laugh. This sequel however was very pleasant
to watch, funny, possible. The kids re-meet again during summer
vacations post-freshmen in college and re-live their previous
adventures with a different outlook on life. We come to notice
how all the characters grew from sex-craving maniacs to changed, more
down-to-earth people.
Sure, there is
still plenty of partying and hot scenes but they are completely
acceptable for their ages. I just found this movie to be one I
would see again... although I don't do many of the things the
characters did I can identify with it. Another slice? Yes!

ANGER MANAGEMENT |
|
PRETTY
F*CKED UP
Adam Sandler
really did something different this time, not like his usual silly
movies. This one actually messes with your head, leaving you quite
confused and made fun of.
Anger Management
is a movie about a nice guy who has always repressed his anger towards
other people who is suddenly being accused of being overly angry
while, really, the viewer knows he is not.
I am not going to
tell you much more about this film because it will give it away but I
can tell you that the good thing about it is that it makes you feel
right in it. In fact, David (Sandler) feels pushed around throughout
his life, the same happens to the viewer who is made believe a million
things at once.
The bad aspect of
this movie is that this new brilliant idea of Sandler's gets carried
around so much that at one point I wanted to turn the movie off and go
get some fresh air.
But it was cute
and funny like Sandler's usual movies, Jack Nicholson and Marisa Tomei
were amazing, the only gay part about the movie was one: Rudy
Giuliani.

THE ANIMAL |
|
This
much we know: a guy gets into an accident and a doctor puts animal body parts
into him in hope to save his life. Rob Snyder becomes half man
half beast when he is suddenly attracted to a goat in heat and wants
to eat raw fish in a tank.
By the sound we
realize the plot is quite superficial, nothing to take seriously. Buy
Adam Sandler & Co. can't be taken seriously! And once you relax
to the bizarre storyline the jokes are what make you keep watching.
If you like The Waterboy or Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo then you will
have a blast with this movie however if you are not into that kind of
humor or are not laid back like that I suggest you watch another
movie.

A WALK TO
REMEMBER |
|
SWEET AS
HONEY
This
movie is about a popular guy who falls for the innocent reverend's
daughter. Simple plot, but that's not all that happens, I tell
you.
I was amazed at
the fact that Mandy Moore is a pretty good actress! I thought this
was going to be a teen flick, sort of like 'She's All That' but it
totally proved me wrong.
It is so sweet
and... well, I will have to omit the second important adjective
because that will give away the ending for you... like it did for
me. If you read between the lines you'll probably figure it out, but
it's not all. There is so much more meaning behind this little
movie that it will leave you with a tear and a smile.
If you are a
hopeless romantic you should not skip this one but if you are more
of a macho guy I don't know how long you'll be able to watch A Walk
to Remember-- but do take a hint from the male character... that's
what a girl wants.

BRIDGET JONES: THE
EDGE OF REASON |
|
NICE
TRY, BRIDGET
I'm not going to blast this movie like all the other critics did
because I didn't think it totally sucked. What did you expect, that
Bridget was going to become mysteriously successful and cool and
stop being such a goof?
I think the
movie works again, and Bridget Jones' Diary fans will like it,
especially the ski scene!!!
Now that
Bridget (Renee Zellweger) is finally with her boyfriend Mark (hot
Colin Firth) she realizes that yes, it is difficult to get a man,
but it's even harder to keep one!
Beautiful thin
girls all around, big Bridget is not self confident and is
constantly afraid to look stupid... and the more she tries not to
the more of a goof she is!
I gave this
movie a C because I think that what happens in Thailand is extremely
unrealistic and stupid, I think the writer should have stuck to a
more down-to-earth plot. Why? Because there are more Bridget Jones
in the world than we may think... actually, there's a Bridget in all
of us.

you are into the sport, you should check this movie out; if you think

Despite the positive review,

CINDERELLA
II: DREAMS COME TRUE |
|
DREAMS
BECOME PATHETIC
I
am a huge Disney fan, a true child inside as you may say.
Cinderella is one of my favorite movies ever so I was looking
forward to rent this sequel because the preview looked great!
But I was so
disappointed at the poor quality of the animations, that looked more
like a WB cartoon show than a professional, classic blockbuster.
The music accompanying it sounded more like a silly attempt to
improve the flick. The story was cheesy and childish (I know
it's a kids movie but the appeal of great Disney movies attract
adults as well) and I felt mocked and underestimated as a viewer.
Do you know the
cute funny things that are in Disney cartoons that make you smile?
(it's hard to describe it another way). Well, there was none of that
in Cinderella II which leads me to believe that this film was
created only to make a few extra bucks and not enough time was put
into it.
And simply and
swiftly, the person I was watching the movie with said: "You can
take Cinderella out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out
of Cinderella."
If you are
going to make a sequel of a huge movie like Cinderella you must live
up to expectations, not fail miserably! Thank goodness I only rented
it!

DRUMLINE |

This
film is about a young man who comes from a poor neighborhood and is able
to start college thanks to his Marching Band scholarship but learns that
it takes a lot more than talent to survive his new world.
He
must learn to deal with other people who are not as talented as he is
and yet have to respect them because they have a lot more experience, he
must cope with a new love and especially understand that to be in a
marching band he must work with others and not only with himself.
I
found this movie pleasing to watch but because I am not a big Marching
Band connoisseur I cannot say that I fully appreciated it; in fact, I
found some parts quite boring.
This is definitely a rental movie- you choose whether you want to keep
it in your collection of just put it back in the Blockbuster returns
box.

ELF |
|
I
thought this flick was just going to be a stupid Christmas spoof but was
I wrong! Don't be mislead by the gay DVD cover, pop this movie in the
DVD player and watch it, you'll find it extremely cute.
It's about an orphan who accidentally creeps into Santa Clause's bag and
is therefore brought into the wonderful North Pole. He is brought up by
an Elf but, even if he has the most heartfelt Christmas spirit, he obviously
sees himself different (he's three times taller, that's an example!) so
he decides to set off into the real world to look for his father, who
never knew about his existence. And as you might have already guessed,
his father is the biggest jerk around.
Of
course the ending is obvious but why not watch this movie to get into
the Christmas spirit for about an hour and 40 minutes? It might be a
good time to start seeing the jerk part in all of us...

ERIN BROCKOVICH |
This
true story featuring Julia Roberts represents the struggle of a twice
divorced woman with three children to support, who never had a chance
in her life to become something more than a mother.
Roberts portrays the character beautifully as she walks and talks; she
is definitely the best woman who could have acted as Brockovich who
also has a small part in the movie as a diner waitress.
Erin proves that even if a woman can look "flashy" and unprofessional,
she can get the job done, and in this case, better than every other
lawyer around her. After begging for employment to a lawyer who
defended her after a car accident, Roberts investigates for a case
that involves a famous gas company that allegedly uses a dangerous
kind of Chromium, putting all the surrounding citizens at serious
health risk. Instead of a small law firm case, the problem
becomes worth millions, and Brockovich has it all in her hands.

DATES |
This
is the typical Adam Sandler blast! I loooove his sense of humor and if
you do too then you'll adore this movie. But if you don't like his
humor skip it, it'll be the best advice for you...
The film is about playboy Sandler
falling in love with a beautiful girl (Drew Barrymore) but he learns
that during an accident her short memory was permanently damaged: she
remembers everything before the accident, but nothing after that.
Every morning she gets up and does the same thing, from painting her
father's studio (every night his father and brother have to re-paint
it white) to going to the same breakfast place and getting the same
waffles.
At breakfast she meets Sandler but she
doesn't remember him the next day... and the next... and the next!!
I love how this movie features funny Rob
Snyder... and extremely talented zoo animals. The film is set in
Hawaii! It sure makes you wanna go live there. Anyways, I'm not going
to give anymore away, watch it!

GLITTER |
|
DEFINITELY
NOT AS BAD AS THEY SAY
Glitter
is a movie about a young singer (Mariah Carey) who becomes famous after meeting a famous DJ. They fall in love
with each other, eventually have problems because he becomes jealous and
over-protecting and the drama continues.
Although Mariah has
always been bashed by the media, BubbleSnow is not about to do that.
It's true, I am a die hard fan of hers and in no way would I talk trash
about her but what I am about to say in this review is truly honest and
not sugar-coated.
Mariah is no Julia
Roberts on the big screen but she is no Cindy Crawford either.
Glitter makes a fairly good debut for her due to the fact that it is a
musical, and we know that is Carey's best department.
The flick will not
be very good to the public eye but I guarantee Mariah fans will watch
this in delight. Want a good analogy? As
Qupid
says, "it reminds you of an MTV movie," you know, the ones with a simple
plot but cute to watch...
And it looks as
though Glitter came as a gift from the sky after the tragic terrorist
attacks to the US. Each movie set to open was postponed due to
violent content and Glitter was the only survivor. The light flow
of the film and the unexpected moral of the story fit our current events
like a glistening jigsaw puzzle piece.
Hate on Mariah?
Don't like her music? Then stay away from this film and do us a favor
of not giving yet another sour comment to Glitter. I walked out of
the theatre in silence, knew people would have eventually bashed the
film, became upset with that but later, on my way home, I changed my
mind.
Hey, I love Mariah
and think she is an amazing artist, what a true accomplishment, now she
has even starred in a movie and co-produced it. She was beautiful
in every scene, always kept me watching. And goodness, that voice
penetrated the theatre speakers proud and strong- my idol... she has
done it again. And she will do it again, glittering.

HARRY POTTER
AND THE SORCERER'S STONE |
|
COULDN'T
HAVE BEEN BETTER
Whether you are
7, 12, 21 or 300 years-old you will absolutely love this movie.
I was at first skeptical; I had never read any Harry Potter books
but because I am such a freak about special effects I figured it
would be worth it to check out the #1 movie in the country.
One amazing
aspect about this movie is that it takes its darn time. Of
course, some don't like movies that surpass the 2 hour mark but this
time it was inevitable. Every anecdote is babied throughout
the film, starting from beginning and coming to the end.
Harry Potter is
a little wizard who is very special indeed, I don't want to give
anything else away. In the movie he is even enrolled in the
school at Hogwarth, where he learns magic and spells.
I can only
think of one corny part in the movie, towards the end, but other
than that I was completely surprised and pleased by this movie.
Believe it or not, I am going out to buy Harry Potter books! I
cannot believe just how creative the author can be! And the director
did an amazing job reproducing this magical world.
I just wish one
thing: that I had seen this movie at 12. If it was so magical
and incredible to me, think about what Harry Potter and the Sorcerer
Stone did to a child- simply amazing.

HARRY POTTER
AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS |
|
A
SEQUEL WORTHY OF ITS TITLE
I love Harry
Potter- I really really do... I think everyone in the world should
watch the movies and read the books. This sequel is by no means better
or worse than the previous and first film but it is very different.
The good thing is
that there is a lot more action because the second movie no longer
serves as an introduction (the first movie took care of all that) and
let's just say it should be handled with care by parents.
I had read the
book so I liked seeing how the director interpreted the second volume.
But some scenes I guess were better left to the imagination, even if
they had to inevitably be included in the movie. To make a long story
short, look out for writings in blood, gigantic spiders hungry of
human flesh, an enormous monster (will not say what it is otherwise
it'll ruin it for you) and petrified children.
The greatest
thing about the movie is the moral of the story. It is not your
character that makes you who you are, it is the actions you decide to
embark upon, says late Richard Harris as Professor Dumbledore to Harry
Potter. And we couldn't agree more.

THE HOT CHICK |
|
YOU
CAN PUT YOUR WEED IN THERE
I was a huge fan of
Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo and remember going to the theatre to watch the
animal waiting for a movie as funny as the previous. I was disappointed
with "The Animal" so I was a little skeptical about "The Hot Chick." The
plot is quite dumb but that sometimes can be an advantage for Snyder's
movies.
And in fact, the
movie is so so funny! Definitely worthy of being compared to Deuce
Bigalow and belong to the list of funniest movies of 2002.
The story is
simple: popular cheerleader Jessica Spencer has everything but niceness
towards other people until one day she wakes up as a man and has to find
out what happened to return to her original state.
There are several
funny scenes and a great cameo by Adam Sandlers. So if you are into this
kind of humor you should definitely check this movie out.

AMAZING
KATE
And don't get me
wrong... I think Matthew McConaughey is adorable too but darn, Kate
Hudson totally maintains the charm like her mother Goldie Hawn... this
she is funny as hell and beautiful!!
The movie is
exactly what I expected... simple story, funny scenes and a awwing
ending. Towards the end however it got a little ridiculous but I guess
that's acceptable for movies such as this.
The film is about a
fashion/gossip/beauty magazine journalist who has to write a chick
article on How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
After a careful
twist by evil women she meets him, the typical playboy guy who for his
career has made a bet that he will make a woman fall in love with him in
10 days... and voila'! there is a recipe for a chick flick!
Don't expect your

LEGALLY BLONDE |
|
PINK
BUT SMART
Ok,
this movie has "chick flick" written all over it. Of course if
you are a guy you do get to see a lot of Reese, which is indeed a nice
thing. However, to the movie:
Legally Blonde is
a funny, light movie about a pretty, apparently ditsy girl (Reese as
Elle Woods) who decides to go to Harvard Law School to impress her
ex-boyfriend, who dumped her saying he needed someone more serious.
Elle is given a hard time from the start, as people think of her as a
dumb blonde who simply would never fit it, no matter how hard she
tried.
You can imagine
how the movie continues and ends so there is no need to continue
further.
I enjoyed this
movie very much, probably because I'm into these cutsy movies that
keep you smiling as you watch. It is a pleasant film, funny and
the best of all is that it has a point. Reese is beautiful and
pleasant to watch, the movie is good, go see it!

of odd relatives and other people, including Lemony Snicket, who

is the oldest of the Baudelaires at 14, and is their brave and
fast-thinking leader. The only boy is middle child Klaus, 12, who is
intensely intelligent and obsessed with words. The youngest is infant
Sunny, who speaks in a language only her siblings can understand, and
she has a tendency to... bite. (taken from Yahoo! movies)
Comments by
BubbleSnow:
Ladies and
Gentlemen, the very first tragic Christmas film that yet in its sadness
and pessimistic approach is among the most kindling ever made.
Why, you may ask
yourselves, is a sad film so amorous? Why is the fictitious, fabled
world of Snicket more genuine than the typical holiday cheer? Because
really, besides the twinkling lights and the colorful wrapping paper,
the ho ho hos and Frosty the Snowman there is so much that we should
believe and accept as true.
In life we must
admit that misery and sadness, devastation and death are present and
very real. So if we watch this film around Christmas time we'll finally
realize how despite all our concerns and nagging we are very lucky
indeed because there are so many people who have it worse than us.
Or again, if our
lives are tragically anguished we must never stop hoping, searching for
a solution, because, as this film shows us, there is never a no-way-out.
We need to always look at ourselves, believe in ourselves, trust
ourselves, love ourselves and the people who love us and really, that's
all we need in life to survive a series of unfortunate events...
Show this film to
your kids if you don't want them to grow up in a world of make-believe.

THE LORD OF
THE RINGS: FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING |
|
ONE RING TO
BORE US ALL
Have
you ever visited Yahoo! movie reviews to find what people thought
about a film and there were always a few who gave it one star? Well,
sad to say, I am one of these people after watching the latest
Blockbuster, Lord of the Rings.
Having become a
Harry Potter addict myself, I expected so much more of this movie
because I had heard it was better than Harry. So I went and
sat for three hours in front of a screen that did not at all attract
my attention.
Basically the
movie is a about an evil ring that keeps wanting to go back to its
master; if that happens, the world will be slave of the dark world.
It's up to a very unlucky hobbit who receives the ring to go on a
quest to destroy it, that can be done only in the fiery pits in
which it was formerly created.
Special effects
and the scenes, the costumes and the make-up were simply stunning-
thank goodness that was there because otherwise I would have just
plain walked out of the theatre.
The story was
so dull that I wondered just how people could sit through it without
yawning twenty or so times. Some speeches were amazing and
that led me to believe that the book is very good indeed, but unlike
Harry Potter I was not drawn to read the books and did not want to
go back back to the movies again to see it. In fact, I don't
think I'd ever be able to sit through 'Fellowship of the Ring'
again. The storyline gave me such a feeling of discomfort, I
felt simply bad for the poor little Hobbit having to go through the
ordeals he lived.
And the ending
(which will not be disclosed because as a matter of fact it is not
clear) just made me glad and in a way disappointed that there was no
particular climax to end the film- even if it was only part 1.
I cannot even
believe myself, but I hated this movie- thank heavens that the
screen in the theatre started twitching and they gave us free movie
passes to come back but one thing is for sure, it will not be to see
this film again!
Maybe I didn't
give it a chance, maybe it's a movie you have to watch twice to
understand; I don't see myself put through that torture again.
BOTTOM LINE:
Follow Harry Potter back to Hogwarts instead

MAID IN
MANHATTAN |
|
YOU
DON'T SAY!! WHAT AN UNEXPECTED ENDING!!
This film was
totally as I expected: not horrible (considering the fact that I love
cheesy movies) but at the same time nothing like "The Wedding Planner."
It is the history
of Marisa, a single mother who works as a hotel maid and meets the man
of her life.
I guess what was so
bad about this film is that it is too predictable. At least Wedding
Planner left some room to the imagination and was way funnier, so funny
that I actually even bought the DVD.
But this is not the
review of Wedding Planner, it is the review of "Maid in Manhattan." If
you are a JLo fan you should check it out, if you like gay movies you'll
find this all right but if you are not into this type of stuff please
don't torture yourself and stay out of the movie theatre.

M-I 2
|
|
I
found this movie easy to understand and self explanatory: Cruise must
eliminate a dangerous virus that the villain wants to obtain to make lots of
money so he recruits his usual gang and a beautiful jewelry thief, who was
once the villain's flame. Everyone compares this movie to the new James
Bond movie (now on tape) but the two are different: the plot in James Bond is
better but the action in MI-2 is more intense.
While James Bond has awesome gadgets and thrills, MI-2 insists on longer car
and motorcycle chases and for the fist time engages in a more sentimental
story. Beautiful job by Tom Cruise, who despite the age proves to be the
strong and handsome fellow women have always adored..

MONSTERS
INC. |
|
PLEASANT FOR
ALL
Ok, so I enjoy
cutsey movies... but I have a really good feeling that almost
everyone will love this flick.
The
monsters do not look too appealing but that's the essence of it-
this Disney movie shows great originality in the personalities and
looks of the many monsters displayed.
Monsters Inc.
is a movie about an imaginary monster world that lies secretly
beyond all children's closets; in order for "Monsterville" to have
electricity, the vital energy source is the screaming of children.
Sully (the big
blue hairy creature) is the best employee at Monsters Inc. because
he scares more children than anyone else- until something happens.
The film has
several corny aspects but what do you expect, it's Disney! The
graphics make this a great sequel to the Toy Story cartoons and of
course, anything can happen in Disney movies. It is the
originality of these films that makes a child emerge from each of
us, whether you like it or not.

it was pretty funny! It does have some pretty gruesome humor in it
but that's the college student humor right there! I think an older
person would walk out after the first few minutes of the flick.
This is not a
movie that is likely to receive positive critic reviews because most
critics are old as Noah. However if you do want to watch
something that will not get you to think too hard this is the right
movie for you! And although you don't like Tara Reid girls, there's
always Van- he's really a hottie!

THE PRINCESS DIARIES |
|

TO ENJOY ON
YOUR COUCH
Trust me when I
tell you I like sugar-coated flicks, movies that only girly girls
would watch. I found this movie to be... just ok. It is
about a tomboy girl who finds out she is a princess and goes through a
physical and emotional makeover.
Don't expect the
fairy tale here, don't expect a Josie Grossi (Never Been Kissed) or
Gracie Lou Freebush (Miss Congeniality). This movie is a huge
teenage take of the princess. If you are under 16 you might love
this but again I like movies that can either teach me something or
flicks that I can identify with. This was just a weekday movie.

SAVE THE LAST
DANCE |
|
If
you are a hip-hop fan you should definitely check out this movie. The
soundtrack is awesome, with great music and famous names in it. The
movie is about a 19-year-old girl whose mother dies so she has to move to her
father's house in a poor neighborhood. There, she meets an intelligent
and ambitious African American young man who will teach her that she must
continue to follow her dream, ballet, despite all obstacles.
The film touches several
important issues including interracial relationships, teen pregnancy, youth
violence and maturity.
Save the Last Dance is a movie
mostly everyone can watch but the younger audience will appreciate it more.

SCARY MOVIE
|
|
This
movie is definitely one of the funniest this summer, consisting of a satirical
representation on several hit movies including the "Scream" and the "I know
what you did last summer" trilogies.
Do not expect to see naked Carmen Electra throughout the movie as she only
appears in the beginning; be surprised, however, to see just how far the
directors pushed this extreme parody that will for sure get you laughing
several times.
The plot is as predicted not suitable for children nor for more mature adults;
the latter may actually cry to see just what today's youth is up to for a
laugh.

SCARY MOVIE 2 |

A BITTER
AFTERTASTE
I
was so looking forward to finally see the sequel to the funniest movie
last summer! (see its review here).
I have mixed feelings about it.
One thing is for
sure though; although it made me laugh, it was nothing like the first
movie. At points in the movie I looked away disgusted; let's
just say that this sequel relied heavily upon gross and sexual contents.
I found the new
cast practically inexistent; the new movie was still based on the
previous main characters. Anna Faris (the little white virgin Cindy) and Regina Hall (the
funny black girl) were hilarious; the Wayans were as usually amazing.
All I can say to
you is if you adored the first movie you should check this one out; if
you were a bit grossed out by Scary Movie then I suggest you handle
this sequel with caution. Regardless a different way to spend an
afternoon... and it was worth it.

SHALLOW
ENDS
I was really
looking forward to seeing this movie and I can admit I have never
been a big fan of Gwyneth Paltrow. Yes, it was very funny,
several times I found myself cracking up to the jokes and the funny
things that happened throughout the movie but it was a very "shallow
humor."
The movie was
not realistic at times, especially towards the end, but that is what
makes it funny. I didn't really like actor Jack Black in his
debut but I immediately connected with Paltrow who was often
charming and at times even cute! I never liked her in the past
because she seemed so high on herself however this movie proves
otherwise- and she looks so realistic in the fat body suit.
I would see
this movie again, but it is not a flick I would look forward to on
DVD.

SHALL WE DANCE? |
|
MOTIVATING!
Yes, it's odd
seeing Richard Gere competing in a National Ballroom competition but
I just found this film to be very optimistic, motivating and,
especially, possible. Not exactly that a few months of whacky two
stepping can get you to winning a competition, but that anyone who
really puts heart and passion into something can get anywhere and do
anything they dream of.
The story is
about a lawyer (Gere) that lives quite a routine life working as a
lawyer. Although he has beautiful kids and a wonderful wife (Susan
Sarandon) he feels sparks are missing. Until one day, as he's taking
his usual commuter train home, he sees a beautiful sad woman
(Jennifer Lopez) at the window of a dance school.
Since he's very
attracted to this figure because she seems to veil the same
expression as his on her face, he decides to take dance lessons-
alone.
The rest is
history. However I cannot stop saying how cute Jennifer Lopez is in
those little movies (ex. The Wedding Planner), while she really
blows as a singer. I wish she'd just dedicate herself to acting and
dancing... she's an amazing dancer.

SHREK
|
|
I don't care if you are a child
or an adult, I am confident you would enjoy this movie
regardless. Whether it is for the funny storyline, the
fairy tale or the stunning, incredibly real graphics, you will
leave the theater with a smile.
The
movie is about an ogre Shrek who does not like to be with
others because everyone fears him due to his looks. If
you are good at it you will probably figure out the end of the
movie about halfway through but it is truly sweet and funny at
the same time (!) so everyone keeps watching.
Shrek is worth watching even
just for the computer graphics; talented artists were able to
apply special and tedious tricks to give a realistic feel to
the movie. In some scenes you can't even tell it's all
just a graphical world.

SPIDERMAN |

SMELLS
LIKE TEEN BLOCKBUSTER
So I do have to admit it- it was a very good movie, although it smells
like Blockbuster.
I really liked Tobey Maguire, he was pretty good for the part.
I did not like Kirsten Dunst because I was used to seeing her playing her
usual ditsy white girl roles: this film needed another lead actress. The
special effects were incredible and the story line was very interesting to
follow but it was strange to watch strictly the life of young Spiderman, where
there were only two actual fights and only the end was packed full of action.
I guess because of the actors in it, Spiderman looked more like a teen
blockbuster hit.
Don't get me wrong, this movie was definitely
worth watching but I guess I am too old and did grow out of the superhero age.
What left me sour was the fact that the bad guy in the movie was a bomber and
he was destroying the city of New York. In this day and age when bombs
drop from the sky and there's nothing we can do about it where is our
Superman?

THE TIGGER MOVIE |
|
The
Tigger Movie is an adorable film that shows the importance of a true family.
Unlike always, Pooh is not the main character; at the beginning of the movie,
Tigger decides to narrate HIS story. Cuddly Piglet, Eeyore, Pooh &
company help the bouncy, striped critter find his long lost family... while
surprisingly it is closer than they could ever expect...
B
BOTTOM LINE: If you don't like mushy cartoons like
Pooh this movie is not for you

TOMB RAIDER |
|
SO
MUCH HYPE FOR SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT
This movie is
very difficult to interpret because there are good and bad things
about it.
Let's
start with the good. If I were to think about one factor that
would make the movie not what it is my answer would be Angelina Jolie;
her image and character fit the profile of Lara Croft to a tee.
She proves once again to be an amazing actress indeed.
A second great
part of the movie was the sets which ranged from icescapes to
beautiful Cambodian forests. Let's just say that the Indiana
Jones wonder look of secret puzzles exists in this version of Tomb
Raider.
Now to the bad:
The movie seemed to be very simple when it came to the way it was
developed; the script is interesting but it seems as though it is all
squished into a quick hour and a half. More action scenes would
have made it more suspenseful and interesting.
Once the end
titles began scrolling I left myself wondering, feeling blank, feeling
less about the Tomb Raider experience; I also expected more Crouching
Tiger Hidden Dragon-like moves because Lara Croft is a videogame
character and the chases, the fights and the suspense are essential.
The movie is
definitely worth checking out in your lifetime but this review is to
let you know you should lower your expectations when it comes to Tomb
Raider.

TOY STORY 2
|
|
Toy
story 2, a brand new sequel to the previous computerized toy adventure, hits
theaters to surprise viewers of all ages.
This time, famous and loved cowboy puppet Woody gets mistakenly stolen
by an avid collector who is eager to make money by selling the entire
once-so-famous collection "Woody's Roundup." It's all up to Buzz Light
Year and the gang to save the old friend to a boring future locked up in a
Japanese museum showcase.
Watch the heroes blasting in a toy store, looking for Woody and checkin'
out some hot Barbie chicks having a party. This movie sure is especially
directed towards children but it is also an adult's sweet escape to a world of
make-believe, where everything is possible.
A-
Bottom Line- Not just for children

BUBBLE
GUM MAKES SENSE FOR ONCE!
Although I never really appreciated Jennifer Garner I really liked her in this
film!!
The plot's quite simple: 13
year-old Jenna Rink wants to be a part of the popular click at all costs but is
not considered worthy. She wishes to become a 30 year-old successful woman and
gets her wish.
However she will realize how
high the price for fame and success is and just how much of the good things
she'll have to give up to become what she dreams of...
To sum up, this
modern day version of Tom Hanks' "Big" is so sweet I still have sugar stuck in
my teeth... I loved it!

A VIEW FROM THE TOP |
|
MUSHY
Made a movie about
cheerleaders, it's finally time to dedicate the silver screen to flight
attendants!
This film narrates
the story of a small town girl (Gwyneth Paltrow) who is able to fulfill
her dream and finally become what she always wanted, a flight attendant.
But is getting to the top really everything in life? Sometimes it's what
you leave behind that you love most.
"A View From the
Top" was cutsy, a nice way to spend 2 hours smiling, but don't expect
much more. If it wasn't for Mike Myers and his cheesy sense of humor the
cheese in this movie would be way too much and that is hard to take from
an actress the caliber of Gwyneth Paltrow, who obviously makes a clear
step down to follow the standards of this film.
The most effective
character in the film was that of Christina Applegate, she totally fit
the part of the ditzy friend (am not going to say much more about this
because it will ruin the "unexpected ending" for you.
As far as the role
of Candice Bergen, well, it seemed like I was watching Miss Congeniality
2, only she was nice.

WHAT A GIRL WANTS

MUSHY
Of course!!! What the heck did you expect from a
film like this? Honestly, a part of me still wonders how I can still watch
these types of movies but I am indeed still into cheese.
This is such a simple, silly story that it is
pleasant to watch without using your brain.
I didn't even want to write a review about this
because it was simply pre-teen galore but I am writing these lines for one
simple reason: Colin Firth... hmm Colin Firth...

WHAT WOMEN WANT
|
|
If
you expect another movie with cheesy and mushy romance think again. Of
course, most women love these kinds of movies but what makes What Women
Want a great film is the fact that it entertains everyone. First of
all, can you think of a "manly man" who is willing to show his legs in
pantyhose in front of a whole world? Not only does Mel Gibson prove to
be completely confident with his sexuality, he also captures the heart of the
women and the admiration of crowds of macho's.
The movie portrays the life of a
man who does not consider women and a heart-related item and enjoys his life
of perpetual bachelor in a glamorous apartment. Until one day, a woman
is chosen before him and he is struck by a magical force that allows him to
understand what women are thinking. Scarry, huh? Well yes, until you
make this your advantage...
